Usability Architect

  • Introduced and implemented a user-centered design process incorporating both quantitative and qualitative user experience research, including usability testing, A/B testing, site analytics and user surveys.

  • Developed user interface design standards and patterns; created and directed production of interaction design and information architecture deliverables including wireframes, story boards, site maps and page flow documentation.

  • Designed computer information systems and applications for the largest Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan Managing Agency. Modified existing systems to improve production and work flow, and expanded systems to serve new purposes. Reduced existing input screens from 28 to eight while creating new tools to cut forms entry time by 75%. Redesigned Blue Cross and Blue Care Network document library, incorporating new search and favorites tools cutting page size from 19 screens to one.

  • Analyzed all aspects of operations planning, monitoring, testing, forecasting, coordination, work flow and scheduling. Evaluated business procedures and problems. Interviewed and recommended contract programming staff, allowing tech group to meet their deadline for the first time in six months. Purchased software and hardware upgrading existing items by as much as five versions.

  • Responsible for usability/user experience and user interface design for all facets of the corporation's web sites. Provided recommendations about selection of new equipment or software packages. Completely restructured web client to incorporate the current BCBS upcoming "Build-A-Plan" insurance initiative and individual care plans.

  • Interfaced with technical and non-technical personnel in-house as well as off-site. Interviewed staff to specifically identify what information is being processed. Collected data through written surveys and observing workers performing tasks. Prepared analyses which presented cost versus benefit as a result of implementing the proposed new system. Prepared specifications for programmers as well as technical documentation and training seminars for employees and agents. Coordinated the development of test problems to debug the system and participated in trial runs of the systems

  • Created graphics for web and print media. Instrumental in developing marketing plan for BCBS Individual Health Care. Performed front-end development on multiple web sites for agent intranets and general e-commerce sites. Interviewed and recommended third-party developers to perform work overflow.
