Abstract: The ultrasonic time-of-flight-diffraction (TOFD) detection method has been widely used in crack size assessment. The key issue in TOFD is to determine the arrival time of crack tip diffracted signal. In the traditional cross correlation method, the resulting maximum peak of cross correlation function between two signals indicates the time of flight between them. In practical ultrasonic measurement, the transmission wave may be distorted and phase shift may be introduced. This paper presents a method using cross correlation and phase shift correction to improve the accuracy of crack sizing in the TOFD framework. The resulting maximum peak of the cross correlation function between two signals combining with time delay introduced by phase shift determine the arrival time of diffracted signal. Experimental results are used to demonstrate the advantage of the proposed method.

Abstract: This paper proposes a blind equalization algorithm based on orthogonal wavelet and coordinate transformation by analyzing the character of 16-QAM signals constellations and Orthogonal Wavelet Transform Theory. In the proposed algorithm, a new error function of Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) is obtained after making coordinate transformation to output signal of equalizer, the error function will become exactly zero when the channel is perfectly equalized; then we make orthogonal wavelet transform to input signal of equalizer to decrease the correlation of signal, the rate of convergence is further improved. Simulation results with an underwater acoustic channel model demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has faster convergence rate and lower residual error, the significant improvements in performance is achieved, compared with CMA and CMA based on coordinate-transformation. © 2009 IEEE.

Abstract: Mobile communication has emerged rapidly as an exciting new research region that changed greatly in human life and the way of working and poses fascinating problems regarding mobile computing including mobile network interlink , mobile data communication and information display etc. This paper concentrate on a research in the area of displaying optimizations of mobile information based on Web browse on small-screen .we make use of a improved algorithm to build up some importance model, and retrieval page layout, thus achieve the aim of excellent browse information. Exactly, we give a detailed discussion with involving technique such as block segmentations design principle and algorithm, block importance model and computing importance, page layout method, show of testing result, and so on. © 2009 IEEE.

Abstract: Cumulus convective parameterization is important for the accurate simulation of precipitation, especially in East Asian monsoon region due to the complex terrain and complicated air-sea-land interactions. A suitable cumulus convective parameterization scheme (CPS) is a key issue for the monsoon climate simulation. In this study, ensemble sensitivity experiments in 1994 summer monsoon climate (from May to August) are performed to evaluate the uncertainties of different CPSs in simulating the East Asian monsoon climate. Four CPSs (the Anthes-Kuo, Betts-Miller and Grell scheme with two closure schemes) are used and 16 ensemble experiments for each scheme are conducted with the initial fields at 6-hour intervals. The results show that RegCM3 reproduces well the observed basic climate variation patterns in monthly scale, but there exist obvious differences in simulating the climatic anomaly, particularly precipitation over East Asia, by using different CPS schemes. It is also shown that the spreads in all CPSs are small in South China, while Betts-Miller scheme and Grell with F-C closure scheme have larger spreads in North and Northwest China, implying that Anthes-Kuo and Grell-1 CPSs have good performance in simulating the East Asian monsoon rainfall. The comparison of the precipitation simulation results with the observations also shows that Anthes-Kuo scheme is more suitable for East Asia. © 2009 IEEE.
