7.1Current Structure of the Network

7.1.1NGED Steering Group

The Network Steering Group oversees the planning of NGED workshops, the preparation of the Network’s report and the generation and maintenance of the Network’s web page. This group communicates regularly to take key decisions with regard to policy and budget allocation etc.

Members of the NGED Steering Group are:

  • Associate Professor Robert Richards (Centre for the Molecular Genetics of Development, School of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences, University of Adelaide)

  • Professor Caroline McMillen (Physiology, School of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences, University of Adelaide)

  • Associate Professor Emma Whitelaw (School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences, University of Sydney)

  • Professor Robert Saint (Centre for the Molecular Genetics of Development, Research School of Biological Sciences, Australian National University)

  • Dr Stuart Hooper (Physiology, Monash University)

  • Ms Helli Meinecke (Centre for the Molecular Genetics of Development, University of Adelaide)

7.1.2Network Management Team

Rob Richards is the Network Convenor, Caroline McMillen is the Deputy Convenor and Helli Meinecke acts as the Network Coordinator and Manager with responsibilities for maintaining effective communication with all members of the Network and representatives from the relevant government organisations and key policy makers from end user groups. The management team will propose conduct of business guidelines and financial management for the Research Network.

7.2Research Portfolio

The NGED is represented by world leading researchers from different organisations, states and territories across Australia. Our scientists bring together an extensive expertise from the disciplines of developmental biology, developmental physiology, genetics, stem cell research, biochemistry, physiology, epigenetics, obstetrics, reproductive technology, animal science, meat and livestock industries, wool industry, veterinary science, embryology and medicine, where work relates to the main theme of the NGED. Each of these members has extensive links to other international research organisations from which the NGED is able to benefit.

7.2.1Current NGED Members

The NGED has prepared ‘Member Profiles’ for each member of the Network. The profiles include contact details of the member, their current field of study, collaborators, recent publications, grant income, and a list of staff and students in the member’s laboratory.

While the table below provides a summarised list of our current members, all member profiles are included in the appendix of this report.
