Faculty of Engineering and Architecture

Course Definition Form




This form should be used for both a new elective or compulsory course being proposed and curricula development processes for an undergraduate curriculum at Çankaya University.


Please fill in the form completely and submit the printed copy containing the approval of the Department Chair to the Dean's Office, and mail its electronic copy to sercing@cankaya.edu.tr. Upon the arrival of both copies, the printed copy will be forwarded to the Faculty Academic Board for approval. Incomplete forms will be returned back to the Department. The approved form is finally sent to the President’s office for Senate’s approval.

Part II. Detailed Course Information



Justification for the proposal Maximum 80 words


This course provides the continuation of the fundamentals of electronics. It focuses mostly on integrated analog circuits. Operational amplifiers, active filters, frequency behavior, feedback concept, oscillators, power amplifiers will be investigated. This course gives details about analog electronic and communication electronic circuits and their applications.





Course Description

Provide a brief overview of what is covered during the semester. This information will appear in the printed catalogs and on the web online catalog.

Maximum 60 words.


After having a detailed frequency analysis of amplifiers, applications of the analog integrated circuits, mainly operational amplifiers (op-amps) and others are taught in this course. Designing active filters, constructing oscillator, voltage controlled oscillator, FM modulator, demodulator circuits, analog to digital, digital to analog converters, designing and analyzing power amplifiers are among the subjects of this course.





Course Objectives

Explain the aims of the course. Maximum 100 words.

  1. Explanation the time and frequency behaviors of basic RC filters

  2. Analysis and evaluation of Frequency performance of amplifiers

  3. Explanation of basics of op-amps, investigation op-amp applications

  4. Analysis and design of active filters

  5. Definition of power amplifiers, calculations of efficiencies

  6. Investigation of analog integrated circuits, IC 317, 555, 566, 565 applications

  7. Exploration of sampling, analog to digital and digital to analog conversion concepts

  8. Explanation of negative feedback, positive feedback and oscillators

  9. Outlining the voltage regulation concept, explanation of types of applications

  10. Definition of other semiconductor devices




Learning Outcomes

Explain the learning outcomes of the course. Maximum 10 items.




  1. Calculate the time behavior and frequency response of an RC circuit

  2. Compose the frequency response of an amplifier, examine and evaluate the frequency behavior

  3. Distinguish the op-amp circuits and compute the voltage gain, input and output impedances

  4. Distinguish the active filters and sketch their frequency response

  5. Describe the power amplifiers, analyze and calculate the power amplification, efficiency

  6. Describe the sampling, analog to digital, digital to analog conversion, compare and contrast the parameters

  7. Distinguish and recognize the negative and positive feedback, identify the oscillators

  8. Interpret the voltage regulation, discuss the voltage regulation circuits

  9. Define the other semiconductor devices (pnpn devices, UJT, optical devices etc.) and list their applications
