Diamond Weapon

I have around 1800 HP here. I go with my double growth setup, because this fight gives almost half of the total AP gained before Disc 3, and some very crucial level ups, most importantly MBarrier and Slow. So, Diamond Fire does nothing due to Fire Ring. Stomp does 2HKO damage, and I'm not insane enough to trigger Diamond Flash at all. The strategy is simple: heal with X-Potions when damaged, otherwise cast Freeze. 17 Freezes later, he falls.

Turks

Okay, this is why I wanted to learn MBarrier and Stop. Setup..Fire nulling, Lightning absorption, and Ribbon. The first rounds I have to spend healing. When I get an opening, I put myself in Haste, and after a few more rounds of healing, cast Slow-All...which misses all three. Yay. Anyway, more X-Potions. I have to cast Slow invidually on all three, after which I cast Barrier and MBarrier on myself(or was it before that? Can't remember). Now the fight looks manageable. Steal Touph Ring and Ziedrich, hit Reno with Break until he retreats, heal and cast barriers a lot.

Proud Clod

The super robot designed to take on WEAPON. *watches it do 2 digit damage* ...

His godly charge time attack deals 300!!! damage.

..why must most FF7 bosses be so bad? Strategy? Spam Break a lot. Win.

Splitting the post. Evil 4096 character limit.

Hojo

First stage is for buffing. Set up Haste and Barriers. Nuke Hojo with Ultima a few times. Helletic Hojo time! His physical attack does a decent amount of damage, nothing occasional healing can't handle though. Nuke him with Ultima a few times. Moving on. Lifeform-Hojo N. I have a Ribbon, so...I nuke him with Ultima some more. Win.

3 Groups of Movers (0 EXP)

Leveling up some materia to get Reflect and HP+90% total.

Jenova-SYNTHESIS

...so very sad. Anyway. I wait her to run out of MP (after killing one of her arms to trigger Cure3 usage). Afterwards? W-Ultima linked with HP Absorb until she is at critical HP. Laugh at her as she is unable to cast Ultima due to wasting all her MP.

Bizarro-Sephiroth

Not much to this fight. At the beginning, I cast Barrier+Reflect. Then I unleash the W-Ultimas. *yawn*

Safer-Sephiroth

At the beginning of the fight, I use Haste + Reflect *Shadow Flare gets reflected* and two Hero Drinks. I nearly die from the wing attack despite having over 3000 HP...I notice my Sadness was dispelled by Aurora Fence in the last fight, and I can't reapply is due to Ribbon. Oh well, as long as the wing doesn't crit...I heal from his attack, dispel his wall, cast Slow on him to prevent him from recasting Wall or dispelling me. (And to keep up with the speed difference). Really, there's not much to this fight, I nearly managed to kill myself my forgetting Sephy was immune to Reflect and trying to bounce spells off him. >_> A few cycles and a lot of support spell casting later, he dies from the combined damage of 8-inch Cannons, Ultimas and his own reflected spells.

Thoughts on the challenge: A lot easier than I thought. FF7 is almost depressingly easy when you know what you're doing. >_> I recommend this if you haven't tried it and want a new challenge though, a few bosses were fun to fight.

Possible additions to the LESCL1L?

NM - Not happening.

NI - Also impossible.

IE - I don't think so.

NA - ..hmm. Actually, this might be plausible. You have Vaccines for Hojo and Safer, after all. You'll have more trouble with bosses, but I think the fights would still be manageable. ...oh, wait, Jenova-LIFE. Uh...you could theoretically never see Aqualung, and you could get Ghost Hands. >_> Anyway, I really recommend that someone try this. Or I will, later. <_<

NNMI - Also possible! I actually avoided Inns for the most part due to their irritating property of reviving characters.

NE - LL and NE combined. THE BEST CHALLENGE EVAR!?!?! *is shot*

MO

IO

CMO

MMO - Not happening. You need both Items and Materia.

NLB - ...maybe? Really, really annoying and ultimately not worth it, though.

NPA - Hmm. Also a definitive maybe. >_>

NES - Sure. I didn't really need Trine/Aqualung for anything.

So...anyone want to try LESCNA? >_>

As for me, I won't be doing anything FF7-related for a while now. I'll be checking out the challenge discussion frequently though. If you have anything to ask of me(yeah, right), do so.

It's too bad that's impossible, because that would be a pretty awesome challenge. The NSG+NE challenges in FFX were some of the best challenges I've ever played.

except you can save at logical points that the game essentially forces you to, like between disks. Half of the stuff you guys seem to push requires multiple tries. Would be harder if you had to start the disk over if you died.

NS

Maybe in the easier challenges, yes, but most of the harder challenges these days can take a loooong time to beat one boss, involving over 20 tries.

and also, NS is my sig :D

I've noticed almost every latest challenge include the Low Level rule, meaning you have to come up with a battle plan. AFAIK it can be a real pain in the ass, sometimes (always ?) and take hours to make one.

I was thinking about developing a little application doing most of the job. You give it the survivor and the KOed characters for each fight, and that's about it, the program does the rest (XP is calculated, starting levels figured out, etc).

I know this won't be as easy as it sounds. But if enough people is interested, I'll do it. What do you think ?

Well, I guess I'll give it a try and post screenshots when I'll have something to show.

Congrats to FeuFeu.

Lol @ Thundaka. That's the first challenge FAQ that I've seen that has no words and all letters to represent the title.

Thundaka : Excellent FAQ, congrats. Makes me want to start the challenge >__>

KADFC : thanks, but you should probably wait before I have something to show ^^

Not that I'll give up, I've been doing pretty good, actually. The graphical interface is almost finished, some data (mandatory battles, for the most part) have already been put.

I'll start coding the characters part tonight (who is the survivor, who is KOed, when the character joins, their XP chart...), this will be the most difficult part, but having Terence's mechanics will save me a lot of time.

By the way, I have a little question : during the Rude fight in Rocket Town, is it possible to end the battle without killing the 2 Attack Squads ?

Yes, and this is required for lowest EXP.

It depends on the challenge. It's easy to do in LLNMIENA, since you're just attacking Rude with S-Mines. Things become harder in LLNIIENA; though I suppose you could just attack him with Comet, that would mean only one character would be able to lead the attack. In LLNIIENACMO it's completely impossible; to damage Rude you need Trine, Aqualung, or Magic Breath, all of which will kill the guards long before you can finish Rude.

Regardless, keeping them alive will only save you 600 EXP, and in exchange you would have to deal with their Sleep-inducing spray for the entire battle. I always killed them right away, even in LLNMIENA. The real EXP saver is keeping Carry Armor's arms alive, but this is very difficult to do in any LL challenge. In LLNM his Lapis Laser+punch combos will lose you MBarrier near the end, dooming you to extermination, while in LLNIIENA and LLNIIENACMO there are few good ways to damage just the body--due to his high Defense and Magic Defense, all non-Lightning-based attacks will do less than half damage.

Ok, thanks for the answer.

Thundaka : The fact they are optional isn't a problem, I have already designed the program to let the user choose the battle formation (ie. who's alive and who's dead at the end of the battle). That way, mandatory battles like Carry Armor, Rude at Rocket Town, Icicle, Rufus... are flexible : you can decide whether you kill the optional enemies/parts or not.

I have another question, this time about the Sample:H0512 boss fight. If you keep on killing Sample:H0512-opt, will the experience add up ? Even if I can't think of a challenge that requires to kill them, I'd still like to know.

Wow, I haven't been reading this topic for a while. I really have A LOT to catch up.

Anyway, I noticed a few things to mention....

Anyway. Final level was 37...Garland calculated 35, so I'm worried I may not have succeeded at this challenge. I don't see how I could have gotten less levels, though...I only killed what was absolutely necessary. - Tonfa Baton

Hmm... Either you killed something you didn't have to, or I miscalculated. I'll do the calculations again to see what result I get.

Nice. I'll take a look at it later. Hopefully, I can read this one without the eye problem returning. I never got to read the entire LLNIIENA FAQ :(

Ha, considering the number of challenges you have attempted this year and the 3 not so shabby Faqs you have written this year, that's a well deserved break. I'll check it out in a while.

Thundaka : thanks again.

I have finally something decent to show. The more I look at it, the more I think the graphical interface needs more work... but this will have to wait until the core is finished and a valid battle plan can be generated.

The first screenshot is the main window of the program :

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/4593/battleplan5up.png

The second one shows that the Exp. calculation part is finished, the test program prints all Exp. requirements for Yuffie (you can only see the end, though). Next is the joining Lvl and Exp.

FeuFeu: Are you getting your numbers being directed by an emulator with FFVII, or you basing your numbers from Terence's FAQ?

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

You don't have to answer that quesiton if you don't to.
