Ummm... Ultima+MP/HP Absorb from 5 targets (9999 x 4 from eyes and 9999 from body) = 99 MP x 5/999HPx5

MP Shot deals after two Dragon Forces, ~150 MP dmg

And I've already beaten him with three characters -)

2 Speed Pluses and Sprint Shoes gives me nice speed.

And btw, I've used Slowest Battle Speed.

Of course we can use Bahamut... it will cure Angry status (written in the Terence FAQ).

Strange.... I can't beat him now.... then my setup is not perfect....

Yeah !!! Beat him again -)

I exchanged Wizard Bracelets for Mystile and Minerva Band, and Sprint Shoes for Circlet and Touph Rings.

No eyes made shot .... NO ONE !! I started battle with Big Guard, then each character casts Dragon Force twice, and then Ultima. Then Mime, Mime, Mime to the end...

One more Emerald Weapon's ear in my necklace -)

A few questions...

When will the IO challenge start?

In IO is Materia aloud(Hp plus, steal for dexterity, ect.)?

And lastly is new equipment aloud(i.e. new weapons/accesories)?

The IO challenge will begin November 1st. GG will start a seperate topic for it soon.

The full challenge is LLIOIENA. In other words: Low Level, Items Only, Initial Equip, No Accessories.

And Items Only means no Materia, no Physical Attacks and no Limit Breaks.

Damn, I completely forgot to post the topic. I'll post it after work (about 6 hours).

I've figured out my Bad Mouth problem, and also why he seemed so reluctant to use it in LLNIIENACMO. First, it cannot be used when Gremlin is under Toad. Second, Bad Mouth is used much more often when Gremlin is below 25% HP. (Credit for the discovery goes to Terence's Enemy Mechanics FAQ, as usual.) Knowing how many other enemies like to turn nasty at low HP, we should have known. Two Lasers are enough to greatly increase his use of Bad Mouth and reduce the time you have to spent waiting around.

Bit of a random comment, as you'll probably never again do a challenge where Bad Mouth is needed, but I still thought you might want to know.

Ragnarok: That sure sucks, and I know exactly how you feel. Same thing happened to me once and I lost a lot of important stuff, but thankfully not as much as you seem to have lost. I hope you find a solution.

Thanks for the sympathy, Garland. Unfortunately, upon taking my laptop to the workshop on campus, I was informed that my hard drive is just "bad". Although I wasn't explicitly told, I'm assuming the data is irrecoverable. For good news, most of what has vanished has already lost its use, is easily regainable, or will have minimal detrimental consequences... I hope. >_>

I've started over, this time on my PS2 (just to be safe), and am about to enter the Mythril Cave. *grabs Matra Magic and L4 Suicide*

hoho, TsukiNoNeko. How many Emerald's ears do you have? ^^

This challenge seems too easy for you. I want to add more constraint to this challenge: IENA or No magic/summon materia or No HP absorb materia or No MP absorb materia or Number of each materia limited to 1.

Which one is hard, interesting and still possible?

Personally I'd like to add "IENA" and/or "Number of each materia limited to 1".

From: TsukiNoNeko | Posted: 10/26/2005 6:58:24 AM | Message Detail

Mmmm.....

- L1Limits

- No Extra Hit Materia

- No Items

- (New) IENA

Cait Sith, Cid and Vincent (most materia slots)

or

- (New) Number of each materia limited.

Killing eyes with Bahamut, Neo Bahamut, Bahamut Zero, and replenish MP when eyes dead. Very Hard but I think doable (Will took hours)

Adding "Number of each materia limited." restriction we can lessen materia slots needed. To add Magic Power I can use summons.

I'll think about this later. Now I will preparing to exams.

Ohh, and about ears ^^ .... many -)

Why not just do a straight No Materia fight with Emerald? Or better yet, a Single Character/No Materia fight? Omnislash is a ludicrously strong limit break, so it wouldn't take that long.

Why not just do a straight No Materia fight with Emerald?

Already beaten. But Solo...interesting -) Later I will try this.

~Ultima Weapon

~Zeidrich

~Touph Ring

Hero Drink x 4, Speed Drink x 1, Spider Web x 1, X-Potion x ??.

Yes, I'll try to beat Emerald with no materia.

But NM and NI are very different, so I will try them both.

I thought fighting Emerald with NI is interesting because of Aire Tam Storm. But it seems too easy now. I'll add more constraints to make it a good challenge, hard but interesting.

From: TsukiNoNeko | Posted: 10/26/2005 9:17:52 AM | Message Detail

Yay, I decided to make little break. And beat him SOLO\NO MATERIA !!!

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b281/TsukiNoNeko/SoloNoMateriaEWTime.jpg

I've exchanged Touph Ring for the Sprint Shoes btw.

Cloud in the back row with Fury. Started battle with Hero Drink, BEFORE Emerald Weapon. Then use one more HD and then X-Potion. Rest of battle was X-potion tossing and Omnislash..... Your Main Enemy is time.

Crazy battle -) I wont do it again...

You need to buy Molotov for the Demons Gate. Or you can try to kill him with "????"

Emerald Weapon's worst nightmare ^^

From: Ragnarok500 | Posted: 10/27/2005 6:55:25 AM | Message Detail

"????" looks pretty good. I don't see anything else mashing through that magic defense. Besides, >_> I can't use Molotovs anyway for the semi-physical damage.

Succinctly, <_< I learned all the enemy skills he had before in the same order. Beta had to be grabbed individually for each Enemy Skill though. *shakes fist at Midgar Zolom's program* I'm so thankful to Aqualung for speeding up this process, although the Big Guards needed to grab it (unlike Aqualung) forced me to Tent after each battle.

Reno and Rude

Cloud: L19, Materia- Manipulate (L1), Sense (L1)

Cait Sith: L17, Materia- ESM#1, Sense (L1)

Red XIII: L19, Materia- ESM#2, Steal (L1)

Strategy: Same as last time. >_>

Gi Nattak

Cloud: L23, Materia- Manipulate (L1), Sense (L1)

Cait Sith: L22, Materia- ESM#1, Sense (L1)

Red XIII: L23, Materia- ESM#2, Steal (L1)

Strategy: Phoenix Down = Instant Win

Finally, I'm back to the point I was at before my comp. crashed... only now I'm on my PS2. *shrugs* This looks like a good spot to stop for the night.

LLIOIENA Challenge topic has been posted.

Thundaka: Could you explain the "Mythril trick" in that topic?

From: Ragnarok500 | Posted: 10/27/2005 10:27:57 PM | Message Detail

New Enemy Skills:

ESM#1: ???? (Jersey)

ESM#2: ???? (Jersey)

Lost Number

Cloud: L25, Materia- Manipulate (L1), Sense (L1)

Cait Sith: L24, Materia- ESM#1, Sense (L1)

Red XIII: L25, Materia- ESM#2, Steal (L1)

Strategy: Aqualung and Beta, as usual, worked wonders, hitting for ~700-~800 on average. After Big Guard, Lost Number's damage usually didn't top anything in the low 100s. After he changed into his magical form, I let him ream me a little bit, switched to ????, and quickly finished him before he got on a roll.

Materia Keeper

Cloud: L30, Materia- Manipulate (L1), Sense (L1)

Vincent: L30, Materia- ESM#1, Steal (L1)

Cait Sith: L29, Materia- ESM#2, Sense (L1)

Strategy: Aqualung all the way... pretty much. I slowed down as he approached death but hadn't pulled out Trine yet. So, I let him bash me around a bit until he used Trine, and then switched to ???? to deal the finishing blows. Materia Keeper's damage was pretty much the same as Lost Number's, bar Trine hitting closer to ~300 without Big Guard.

Palmer

Cloud: L31, Materia- Manipulate (L1), Sense (L1)

Vincent: L30, Materia- ESM#1, Steal (L1)

Cait Sith: L30, Materia- ESM#2, Sense (L1)

Strategy: Smashes him with Beta and Aqualung. Given the quickness/easiness of this battle, there's no real need to list any of the figures.

New Enemy Skills:

ESM#1: Death Force (Adamantaimai), Magic Hammer (Razor Weed)

ESM#2: Death Force (Adamantaimai), Magic Hammer (Razor Weed)

While I was at it, I bought 10 Swift Bolts and 10 Fire Veils in Wutai, in addition to the typical stock items.

I'm saved outside the Temple of the Ancients. I've decided to go with Cait Sith, rather than Vincent, as my third inside the temple, due to his considerably higher maxHP. Similarly, I'm thinking of sticking with Vincent and Cait Sith as my party in general, since, although Cid has the shiny Gold Armlet, his Magic stat is much lower than either Vincent's or Cait Sith's, and I question whether or not that defensive bolstering is worth the trade off in offensive power.

Stick with Cait Sith. His Dice is an incredible asset; it allowed me to roll over Demons Gate in the HDINS without any additional leveling up.

Unfortunately, I can't use physicals or limit breaks, Thundaka. What I was really hinting at was ????. I don't see myself hurting Demon's Gate easily without it, and Cait Sith's 600ish HP advantage over Vincent right now is huge.
