Estimating of the current educational activity.

Mark defined by number of topics of the module.

Mark of the subject of “Dermatovenerology” is rating. It contains current educational activity of the students and marks of mastering specified by the modules program. Current estimating of the students for thematic topics is done according to 4-grade system (excellent, good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory) which changes gradually in to grade system.

Mark “excellent” – student knows theme of the lesson and material of the lecture fully, can shows different examples for his answer, can give full exact, clear and correct answers without any helping, leading questions, without mistakes, can solve tasks and perform practical skills on different levels of difficulty.

Mark “good” – student knows theme of the lesson and has good understanding of it, gives correct systematic answers for questions, but not complete. Student can answers for additional questions without mistakes, can solve all tests and practical tasks and has difficulties only at the highest levels.

Mark “satisfactory” – student has knowledge and understanding of all topics on acceptable level. He can solve some tasks (easier ones) with help of leading questions, he has difficulties to solve tasks and to use practical skills in simple occasions. Student can answer correctly direct questions but not able give systematic answers by himself.

Mark “unsatisfactory” – knowledge and abilities of the student are lower than acceptable.

Student is estimated according to 4 – grade traditional system for his study which later converts in to grades depend on number of topics in module. System shows below and illustrates this conversion of tradition system in to grades:

Maximum number which student able to achieve for module equal to 120 grades (number of grades equaled to mark “5” multiplied by number of topics in module with addition of grades for individual work).

Criteria of estimating of patient’s history in module 1:

3 grades – written methodically correctly, without any remarks;

2 grades - written methodically correctly, but some parts of it need to be more    detailed;

1 grade – there are some correct remarks, relevant to detailing and sequence of    description of the parts of patient’s history;

0 grades – plan and rules of the writing are not followed (in this case student    should rewrite patient’s history with consideration of remarks of the teacher).

Minimum number of grades which student able to achieve for module equals: number of grades of mark “3” multiplied by number of the topics of module and equal to 70 grades.

Estimating of the individual, self work of the student (individual tasks)

Number of grades for different types of the individual work of the student depends on it’s importance and can be 5-7 grades (but not more). These grades add to sum of the grades for current educational activity.

Estimating of the self work of the student

Estimating of the self work of the students is done during current control of the topic on the lesson. Understanding of the themes for self work of the student is estimated during final modular control.

Final modular control

At the end of all themes is final modular control (at the last lesson).

For final module students should finish learning all topics of the program and achieve certain number of grades (minimum 70).

Final module must be according to standardized plan and includes control of the theoretic and practical work.

Final modular control consist of test control (number of the questions 40), demonstration of the practical skill ( according to list of the practical skills) and clinical task solution.

Maximum number of grades of the final modular control equals 80. 40 – maximal mark for the test control, 20 – for the clinical task solution, 20 – for the demonstration of the performance of the practical skill.

Minimum number of grades which student able to achieve for module equals: number of grades of mark “3” multiplied by number of the topics of module and equal to 70 grades.

Student gets “pass” for his final modular control if he received 50 grades or above (30 – minimum mark for the test control, 10 – for the clinical task solution, 10 – for the demonstration of the performance of the practical skill).

Criteria of estimating of the clinical task solution in module 1:

20 grades – exact clinical diagnosis in a patient, correct plan of the examination      and treatment of this patient;

15 grades - exact clinical diagnosis in a patient, but some parts of the plan of the      treatment and examination of the patient need to be more detailed;

10 grade – there are some difficulties in diagnosis, plan of the treatment and      examination of the patient. It need corrected with consideration of remarks of      the teacher;

0 grades – answers are absent

Criteria of estimating of the performance of the practical skill in module 1:

20 grades – practical skill is performed without any mistakes;

15 grades – practical skill is performed with inessential inexactness, and was           corrected by student;

10 grades – practical skill is performed by the student with inexactness and             mistakes and was corrected by the teacher;

0 grades – practical skill is not performed.

Estimating of the subject

All modules should be completed.

Mark of the subject equals average mark for all module.

Additional grades can be added for scientific publications, top prizes in competition from relevant subject only according to decision of the Academic council.

There are statistical methods used for objectivity of the students (coefficient of the correlation between current progress and results of the final modular control.

Conversion of grades number of the subject in marks

Students, which failed one or more modules at the end of the learning of the subject estimated FX, F (“2”).

FX (“2”) – get student that achieved minimum number of grades for current educational activity, but failed final modular control. These students allowed to pass final module for the second time, but no more then twice, according to program, approved by rector of the university.

Students with mark “F” (number of grades lower then minimum) should repeat course of study from relevant module.

Direction of the university taken a decision according to normative papers approved in standard practice.
