Guide for students is composed according educational program and curriculum (educational subject „Dermatovenerology”) for students of institution of higher medical education (MH of Ukraine, K., 2007) of the III – IV levels of accreditation currently in force and approved by vice-minister of health of Ukraine.

Dermatovenerology”

1. Introduction.

Dermatovenerology as an educational discipline - is based on the Management of the learning process is realized according to Bologna credits and modular system.

Dermatovenerology. This is the medical specialty, that studies etiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, modern treatment and prophylaxis of the skin diseases and, particularly, sexually transmitted diseases.

Dermatology (from Greec. dermato = skin; logos = study).

Dermatovenerology as an educational discipline:

а) it is based on the previous study anatomy, histology, normal and pathologic physiology, medical biology, microbiology and other morphologic subjects by the students and integrated with these subjects;

б) it is important component for following study of the clinical subjects by the students, and forms practical skills from dermatovenerology in further professional activity;

в) it is foundation for healthy life-style and prevention of the venereal diseases.

Number of the educational hours 90 (3 credits ECTS):

- lectures – 20 hours

- practical lessons – 50 hours

- self-training work of the students – 20 hours.

Discipline " Dermatovenerology " includes 1 module, which in its turn are divided into 13 thematic modules.

3. Final objectives of the study of the educational subject according to educational, professional program (EPP):

● To detect etiological and pathogenic agents of the most distributed skin and     venereal diseases.

● To diagnose previously skin and venereal diseases based on clinical pictures and      anamnesis.

● To prescribe laboratory or instrumental examination; to make differential     diagnosis of these diseases.

● To define medical actions for patients and to use principles of prevention of the     most distributed skin and venereal diseases.

● To use moral and ethical principles in conversation with dermatologic and     venereal patients.

5. Estimating of the educational activity of the student.


Methods of the control.

Method of the control and system of estimating act according to demands of the subjects program and instruction about system of estimating of educational activity of the students according to credit modular system of the educational process, approved by Ministry of Health of Ukraine (2005).


Mark for module equivalent to the sum of marks of current educational activity and marks of the final module. It defined during estimating of theoretic knowledge and practical skills according to program of the subject.

Maximal grades after each module ( final credit ) – 200, among which 120 (60%) for current educational activity and 80 (40%) for result of the final module.

Current control used on each practical lesson according to specific objectives from each topic. Standardized methods of control should be prefer in estimating of educational activity of the students. These methods are: tests, structural written tasks, structural practical skills, close to real conditions, clinical examination of the thematic patients.
