Position Design and Production Engineer

Responsible for the design and production of all trailers, ranging from 3m to 7m to meet customer’s requirements. All specially hand built using, specifically, a synergic pulse welding machine (supplied to the company following my visit to the manufacturer in Italy). Liaising with customers at all levels and in charge of key account customers.

Feb 2006-Aug 2006 LINCOLN ELECTRIC

Position Sales/Applications Technician

Initially placed on a 10 week intense training course for products, practically welding wires and electrodes, their values and composites, all welding methods and all welding equipment from invertors, step machines, tig, stick, synergic machine, pulse on pulse, sub arc and surface tension transfer. On completion of the course took over responsibility for the Midlands area. Responsibilities included maintaining relationships with Distributors and building new ones with end users, giving demonstrations, advising all customers on technical issues and cost savings, generating sales and new custom.


Apr 2002-Feb 2006 CONTRACT ASSIGNMENTS

Position Robot Technician/Night Shift Manager

Problem solving and troubleshooting within the robot cells. Robots used during this period included:- ABB S3, Kuka 1500, Cloos & OTC 5 Axis Robots plus 28 Resistance Projection Welding machines. Realising robot utilisation.

Programme movement and evaluation (workstudy). Performance improvements (cycle times) through robot programming and fixture modifications. Cost reductions. Control and management of welding cells (4 robots and 15/20 staff). Carried out Macro Testing, making sure all Mig welded components passed the customers welding standards. Control and management of pressure testing equipment (VES Testing). Monitor and rectify breakdowns. Implement TPM controls. Order of consumables. During this time work has been carried out for the following:-

Sept 2000-Apr 2002 BLOXWICH ENGINEERING LTD. (AGILE MANUFACTURING UNIT)

1st Tier Manufacturers of Components and Assemblies for the Automotive Industry.

Position Senior Welding Process Engineer/Robot Technician

Process improvement for all welded and fabricated products across the Group, changing 95% manual weld to robot weld, also taking full control of all new projects that need to be fabricated and welded. Liasing with customers and suppliers to make sure the projects can be made successfully to drawing, health and safety standards, in set budget and at the right cost and with top-level quality. With existing production the role was to make sure they continued to produce to the customers requirements making sure all fixtures, machinery and operators performed to the highest level giving customers full confidence, also taking full control of any defects immediately and solving and controlling them immediately hands-on. The other part of the role was to change the manual weld process to robot weld process, implemented 85% from manual to robot weld, which increased profits by 60%. He also wrote and inserted robot programmes and programmed the robot to weld the components using ABB S2, ABB S3, ABB 1400 Motoman, KR6 and Fanuc Arcmate.

Feb 2000-Sep2000 Team Leader

Liaising with Production Control, day-to-day production planning, problem solving, utilisation of factory floor space, ordering consumables and welding equipment also; hands-on 9000 bed project, controlling 20 staff, ensuring full efficiency to meet customer deliveries, also giving out disciplinary procedures when necessary. Analysing data capture.


1998-2000 MAXSTONE ENGINEERING

Position Welder/Fabricator/Foreman

Liaising with Production Manager on a daily basis. Daily use of computer for work orders. Organising 35 staff, including Turners, Millers, Fabricators and Fettlers. Stock ordering, issuing cutting lists, chasing orders, reading drawings, quality inspection to ISO9002.


1994-1998 C & S TECHWELD

Position Fabricator Welder

Tig welding, mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, cast, brass etc. also some medium fabrications in mild steel, using tig machines. Evaluating the quality of tooling dies, forming tools, cutting tools and repairing them, using tig welding. Welded a 10ft brass statue, flight of Icarus, using tig cast materials using different qualities of stick welds.


1992-1994 MUSSET ENGINEERING

Responsible for 3 staff. Reading drawings, production of high quality parts for Lotus Cars, operating drills, MIG and Tig machines and milling machines. Working with stainless/aluminium steels and working to 0.10 tolerances.
